The Need for Community Banks
I actually think we would need to rethink the overall structure of the banking system. There's a place for the G-SIBs and community banks but whether they're economically viable on their own in the current environment is a real challenge. I want to see the case for why we actually need these really really large banks that are subject to significantly less regulation than the G- SIBs. It doesn't matter where you set the threshold or what you say the rules are if you're not even enforcing the rules any regulator at any threshold should have been able to detect that these banks had really worrisome balance sheets.
