The Kindness of a Host in Japan

The host is this bonfire house outside and on check-in. He provided guests with little fireworks sparklers. When I checked out, there was a present in my shoe cubby. The hotel owner had gifted me a local pottery teacup. Absolutely wild experience. At no point did I get weird or creepy vibes either. Have you experienced anything similar from hosts in Japan?
