The Importance of Collaboration in Songwriting

Rodney: Top Gun is huge. Heart to heart, obviously. I heard it this morning. Another with Michael McDonald or? Yeah. That's another one. And we went into the studio and because I'd promised that I would never record a song I wrote with Michael without Michael on the pianoBecause he's a unique player. We put David in one room on the grand piano and Michael was in the main room on the Fender Rhodes. So Michael played the verses and then he would lay out and David would jump in on the choruses. He came up with that in about five minutes. Mm-hmm. Let's do that.
