Effect Sizes in Meta-Analysis
In statistics, we often do hypothesis testing where we're trying to see where there's a significant difference. Effect size is an additional measure we use to get at that meaningfulness. For example, if you're assessing the effect of a particular instructional method, you may want to restrict your sample of effect sizes to studies that use experimental techniques. So in general, that's how I would sum up meta-analysis.
