Our ancestors first began to control fire about two million years ago. And it seems that this probably co sited with a transition to sleeping out on the ground in open camps or under the shelter of rock, overhangs or caves. The introduction of camp fires could very well have shaped the development of what we see as major features of human social life. It is possible that pear bonding may be a recent feature of human evolution.
