The United States is a country with some very dark foundational elements. There was the genocide of native peoples and slavery, but there was also this revolutionary tradition. And I think in World War II, we were the good guys. We rightfully enjoyed global prestige as a result of our heroic efforts. The first moment where we started to go down this path that you really opened up in your world are Iran 1953.
