The Reciprocal Relationship Between Humanity and the Future
John Rawls has quite a lot to say about what we owe future generations. And it is understood in reciprocal terms, he says and you phrase it like this at one point that we should sort of think about people who are yet to be born. He's clear that the level of economic prosperity that we've already achieved is sufficient to maintain just institutions. We don't have a moral obligation to increase that further for future generations even though we can choose to do so if we want to. I probably have an unsatisfying answer to what we owefuture generations partly because I think Rawls does too.
