Syracuse was a tumultuous region in part because it sat between Greece and Italy. Agathically is an important case study for Machiavelli. He's the son of a potter, he rises up to become tyrants from very, very low origins. His martial arts forces take control, got in power, and he then basically just turns on everybody.
