Joy Division bassist Peter Hook and guitarist Bernard Sumner were childhood friends who'd been inspired by the legendary Sex Pistols gig at Lesser Free Trade Hall in Manchester. This, of course, was the gig that set not only Joy Division on the past to greatness, but also the Smiths, the fall, the buzz cocks and factory records. The latter of which eventually revolutionized DJ culture through a Manchester venue called the Hacienda. "I hope it doesn't suck. I'm not there yet," he says about being able to call them Barney and Hooky.
