The church will throw the bishop under the bus in a heartbeat to protect the good name of the church. The people that rise in the ranks as general authorities aret necessarily the most pastoral, christlike people. And certainly the case of the situation in lehi was just so horrific, and the impact was so wide sweeping with some of those members.
