The Distance to the Fixed Stars
A lot of people using ptolemy's model of the universe thought that they weren't much farther away than saturn. But our metal nosed friend, tycho brahi, did his own calculations and estimated that the stars had to be farther away than that. Given what we know now, the fixed stars were thought to be a little bit farther out than saturn but not as far out as uranus.
