The GDPR and the EU's General Data Protection Regulation
The EU's general data protection regulation with a GDPR, which came into effect in 2018. Companies that are found to be violating the law can be fined up to 20 million euros or 4% of their global turnover. Andrew Young out of our London office took me through the conditions under which companies like Meta and Alphabet might be able to collect or use this data in the EU.
