The Totality of the Circulation Process
In reading Marx's capital you've always got to have this idea of the totality in mind. Having a visualization of what the totality of the circulation process is about is extremely helpful. The hydrological cycle, the driving force is the input of energy from the sun. One of the driving forces is the fact that nobody in their right mind would end up going through all this business just to end up with a certain amount of money. Therefore, profit seeking is a terribly important driving force. But does that mean that effective demand is not a driving force? Once needs and desires are not adriving force.
