The Importance of Touching Jesus
The Greek renders it thus, Maimu Aputu, which is basically stop clinging to me or stop holding me. Joseph Smith in the Joseph Smith translation, I think, gives a good rendition here where it reads, hold me not. This could be something symbolic. What if Jesus is using Mary's desire to touch him as a symbolic gesture of the transition from his physical presence on earth to his spiritual presence in heaven?
