The Process of Peaking in Talent and Wisdom
You can't really engineer a peak, but I do think in lots of pursuits. You peak when they're, oh man, I'm going to try to talk through a visual. So imagine two curves, right? And on one curve, you've got raw talent or quickness or cleverness or cognitive flexibility and that line tends to slope down. For an athlete, that might be as early as age 30 because there's a steep decline in the natural talent curve. More intellectual pursuits for a researcher or a physician, that may be between 40 and 50.For a poet, which really relies on wisdom more than anything, that peak might not be till 70.
