Why Humans Aren't Loss Averse
A psychological fact about humans is that they are loss averse, meaning they really don't like to lose things. People generally would rather avoid losing something of value than gaining something of the same value. This is due to our evolutionary history: Our ancestors grew up in an environment where resources were scarce. As a result, we're programmed to strongly resist losing things that we consider valuable.
