Sustainable Energy Development Is Not Enough
We could live sustainably, but we couldn't do it if we were all going to be living on biodiesel and living as we are now. The amount of land you have to give over for the crops to produce biodiesel is massive. We can imagine a future with a large population and say travel as a rationed thing where we try and encourage food to be produced locally. So there are lots of futures possible, but unfettered population growth with not enough energy going - that's a recipe for disaster in the long term.
