The Ethics of War

How are we going to adjudicate between competing claims about whether a war is just or not? Well, I think it is right that very often the governments on both sides believe they're in the right. What we need is a more philosophically sophisticated and defensible understanding of the ethics of war. There really is an enormous amount of serious work being done now in a way that's unprecedented in history.
