There's been quite a lot of interest in Dostoevsky recently as well. He had a fairly similar life trajectory, but they ended up like theologically and philosophically in different places. I'm going to recommend Terry Eagleton, particularly his book The Illusions of Postmodernism. It's probably 30 years old now. And also I recommend his little autobiography, The Gatekeeper. One of the funniest books I've ever read.
