How to Be Better at Smalltalk
In American English and American culture, Smalltalk is really valued. For people who don't share the same cultural values, it might seem a little weird to talk about whether or the commute when we're here to talk about something else. It's really important to establish trust and to start building a relationship. If you have an opportunity to get into a small conversation, do it. Do it even if you're afraid. And usually, if this is not someone that you will be meeting again and again and again, I mean, who cares what they think if you get stuck?
