Why Preserving Option Value Isn't Always the Best Choice
One reason for preserving option value is that we just really don't know what's best. At least i'm not confident enough to lockin many values for a very long period, say at least for thousands of years. And so we might want to be skeptical right now whether we have the right values. It would have to be pretty big coincidence if it turns out that our generation is really the first one which just scattid, right?
