The Story of Waterbug Stole Copeland Creek
Isabelle interrupted a story they were telling. She thought that perhaps the woman had been reading her mind, or far worse, that she herself had finished the story out loud. It's an ancient story from Sonoma Mountain, from when the animals were still people, Isabelle said. The mountain, everything all around dried up. There were no salmon in the creek. People were dying of thirst.
