The Independent Dynamic in Local Elections
Bolton was not being predicted as a particularly great result for Labour ahead of time. That's because you've got the fracturing of votes there over the last few years into a lot of little independent parties. And that doesn't necessarily seem to have played out as expected. So, actually, that independent dynamic is playing out in different ways in different places. Because it's so localised, it's quite difficult to work out what that then means to the general election.
