Blake's Marriage of Heaven and Hell
For Lawrence Lopridge, the marriage of heaven and hell presents an embattled dialectic that points to a new state of being. Blake often defined himself against writers like Bacon, Newton and Locke who left in Blake's mind little room for inspiration and vision. The important word which Blake repeats in earlier in the Songs of Innocence and Experience is contrarians. Human experience and indeed our moral experience is aided by an inclusive vision that moves beyond monism and dualism.
