The Relationship Between Arabs and Hebrews
An idea arose that arabs are simply the descendants of ishmael, and hence they too are heirs and descendants of abraham. So these ideas, it seems, were already current in ar bia by about 600 or so. That arabs could trace their ancestry back to this ancient patriarch abraham was a common belief among them. Their supreme deity, which they called allah, was also the god of abraham, and hence the god of jewish and christian mythology and worship.
