In countries where prices have surged the most since the pandemic began, they are especially vulnerable to cooling demand. The higher household debt is as a share of income, the more vulnerable owners are to higher mortgage payments. And in this bracket, you've got Australia, Canada, Sweden, a couple of others. They managed to escape the full brunt of the financial crisis and came out of it relatively unscathed - unlike Ireland. But since then, they've run up huge amounts of household debt that's prompted warnings from financial watchdogs.
