Jefferson's Contribution to the Declaration of Independence

Jefferson was a member of the Second Continental Congress, which first convened in 1775 and continued into 1776. When he showed up in Philadelphia, he was only 32 years old. He teamed up with John Dickinson to write the Declaration on the Causes and Necessities of Taking of Arms. Jefferson thought Adams should write the thing since he was such a strong proponent of independence.
