Police searched Rillington Place because they were like, if it was John Christie, we have to go search this apartment. Ethel came out and gave them a piece of metal to use to pry open the shed in the back garden. And there they found in the shed the bodies of barrel and baby Geraldine. They didn't know it yet but on November 8th, 1948, John Christie had knocked Beryl out using his gas,. He had raped her and strangled her at the same time which would become his famous MO. For obvious reasons he's the spouse who died during this process as police were honing in on him. It just gets more heartbreaking with each passing day
