The Future of Science
NASA has a program to try to minimize the amount of that threat by sending satellites to collide with objects perceived as being in orbits that could collide with the Earth. And they had a successful test recently to impact an asteroid on a potential collision orbit. So it's an example of the theory being proved out by an observable action where you send the satellite. It moves enough. We have to take account of that and it may set limits to just how sensitive we can observe at certain conditions.
