The Positive Psychology of Believing in Determinism

Can it serve some sort of function in people's lives to believe in determinism yeah I do discuss that in the book a little bit. One possibility is that it lets them feel smart you know they are too intelligent to be taken in by soft-minded delusions or maybe it letting them feel like what happens is not they're doing and so they're not responsible. Maybe it's nice not to feel a responsibility especially if you're making bad choices that gets you into trouble another reason to believe ineterminism is maybe you just don't want to think about it that hard or maybe you just believe that science will get there some days not there yet but it will.
