How to Deal With Destructive Actions
We should treat ourselves with self-compassion, the same way we would a friend exploring an issue they're seeking to change about themselves. Remember that most of us come by our behavior honestly. Many of our worst traits are born out of ways we learn to protect or defend ourselves early in life. These things are in our power to change, but we must first recognize and acknowledge their existence. We can't just get over it by pretending it didn't happen or trying to numb the feelings we are experiencing.
