Amelia Earhart's Transcontinental Speed Record
Amelia Earhart is the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic. She completed this feat on 21 May 1932. This widely publicized success solidified two dreams for Amelia, international fame and flying full-time. When she wasn't in the air, she was lecturing about flying. The U.S. Congress also gave her the distinguished flying cross,. French government gave her the cross of night of the Legion of Honor.
