The Birth of Zions in the Book of Isaiah
There have been various instances of mother and earth imagery in the book of isaiah to this point. In chapter 26, verses 17 19, for instance, like a pregnant woman who writhes and cries out in her pangs when she is near to giving birth. Zions struggle with roness and the lord's reversal of that is a recurring theme in the book. We see birth as a symbol of deliverance in places like the story of the exodus which itself is framed as a great birth narrative.
