The Importance of Sound in Physics

Jazz is really about mastery of time and the mastery of time is an individual thing on one level but in the jazz sense in the swing sense is mastery of the fluctuations of time with other people. I think it's fascinating when you get a lot of people improvising who really can play how they all hear and interpret the moments because it's successive moments of crisis there's always a crisis right every moment is a crisis. When the band stops it's a break and only you play then there's really a crisis for you, that's where swing comes in. You have to maintain a momentum and identity can't be on everybody else no they're gone then they come back in.
