The Importance of EPI in Peri Intubation

There are very few situations in which I could be persuaded to sprinkle a little bit of EPI on someone peri intubation. The Glasgow Blatchford bleeding score is one of those handy MD calc scores that can help you determine who with a GI bleed complaint can go home. It's their hemoglobin, their BUN, their systolic blood pressure, their sex, their initial heart rate and whether or not there is actual melanin present on exam. And so really, all you need is a patient, a set of vital signs, a CBC and a BMP before deciding if they're safe to go home.
