The Talmud Says That the Kilazon Is a Fish

The Talmud says that the Kilazon is a fish. Rashi in his commentary to Sanhedrin 91 says that it's a worm. The Midrash says that so long as it grows its shell grows with it. In the book of Shabbos the Talmud tells us that they would access the blood of the Kilazon by cracking open something which again sounds like it has a shell. So while it's an aquatic creature it could also survive on mountains i.e. outside of water.
