The soviet army learned, through a combination of on the job training and brutal atrition, how to counteradvantage. The first t 30 fours got pretty solidly destroyed. They left forty destroyed tanks outside of the oka river where they launched their counter attack. However, other german tanks were mauled. All of this just to advance three miles. By the time the germans got to the fortified village of balbreck, the soviets had figured out the best way to use their tanks to counter the tigers.
