I spoke to him a lot about his war and his life, because unlike some people's fathers, he was quite willing to talk about these things. He died when it began to become clear to me that if i didn't sort all this out and recalled it all and research it, it might be lost. You know how families have these stories, they get garbled down the generations, and in the end, there are a few papers left in an attic which somebody unknowing, throws away. So, of course, but what i now know is fagmore than i would have known when he was alive. That is incredible.
