Video Games Hit Those Three Needs Really Hard
Video games hit autonomy, competence and relatedness. As you finish a level, you get gold coins or rings - so it's like completing the levels. You have an immediate community of gamers that you can speak to on-line. So video games hit those three needs really, really hard. They are hugely motivating.
