Beowulf and the Manuscript
The most basic facts about the poem, like should we see it as having one single author are just utterly unknown. So we've got very few concrete details. I suppose in some ways it's a bit like a modern bookshelf rather than the physical manuscript itself. It contains several texts alongside Beowulf that don't necessarily relate to Beowulf. There are some kind of themes that are somewhat suggested by the text that appear alongside Beowolf.
