The Importance of Effectiveness in Vaccines
Vaccines are not just about efficacy, but effectiveness. Effectiveness is measuring how well the vaccine performs in the real world. In a scottish study that came out two weeks ago, four and a half million people were followed for incidents of hospitalization. There was something like 94 % for the astrozenic accine, 85 % for the fise accine. Not significantly different numbers, clearly a very major effect in the real world in frail, elderly individuals who are the first to be vaccinated.
