Is Population Going to Decrease?
We're seeing a rapid acceleration in the declines in fertility around the world. This is because global literacy rates increased 40 to 80 percent between the 60s and 2015. The time it took for the UK to reduce from six children per women to 4.5 children for women was 80 years. Rwanda recently did that in about five years. I think if we in high income nations can double down on both the technologies and the implementation of deployment of those technologies, whilst cutting our own emissions... then we can be growth agnostic. There is a way to paint a picture where you're threading the needle here. But one thing we often underestimate is these changes in fertility rate are really compounding over
