Crawley's Confession
When Crawley was at the hospital, he was weak from the loss of blood and groggy from the tear gas. It was found that his leg wounds were minor injuries. When questioned by chief inspector of Nassau County detectives, Harry King, Crawley signed a confession stating he shot and killed patrolman Hirsch. May 8th, 1931 reporter Jack Miley reported in the daily news, Crawley's bragging and it read, sure I killed Hirsch. "I fired 16 shots at him. I killed that copper deader than hell I did"
