For a long time, ukranian generals have been hinting that they were preparing a counter offensive. In the last few days, ther've been attacks on at least four points along the 200 odd miles of southern front line. The most interesting ar happening northeast of gerison centre, where it seems that a ukranians unit has broken through and pushed back russian troops. But their aim is not, explicitly, to take herson city back, at least not yet. Instead, the feeling i am getting is that the offensive is planned to continue without any hurry, but further down the river, upstream.
The long-trailed counter-offensive to retake the Russian-occupied regional powerhouse and symbolically powerful provincial capital has begun. But Ukraine’s forces are in no hurry. Visa and Mastercard are two of the world’s most profitable companies; we look at efforts to break their iron grip on the payments market.
