How Did You Create a Groundswell of Excitement?

I think we were following it was possibly Diana Riggs' work at that particular point in time. And I also had an excellent deputy principal who isn't at this school anymore, but she was actually the one who led the way. She was the one going into classrooms and doing all of the really hard work with the teachers. We just continued to develop this groundswell. Then parents began to talk to one another. And over a very short period of time, the new lot of parents coming through started to expect that their children would learn how to read. So then we had sort of a movement.
