Learning English as You Get Older

I think probably most of us want to age well. There is an idea that it's difficult to learn English over the age of 30. How do you make good decisions so that as you get older, you feel happier and in general have a better life instead of worse? I can look at like let's just say my own country in the United States, America that people age in general very, very, very badly.
