The Importance of Jury Duty in American Freedom
A study done recently, I mentioned a month or two ago of young people turning voting age about their relationship to this land of freedom and independence. And they said, absolutely, and they were really strong about it. As Americans, we deserve a jury of our peers to judge our guilt or innocence. We live in a society which at this time, an independence day, is for the first time in our history, spending more as a nation, more of our money on prisons and criminal justice system than on all of our schools and education put together. What does that say about freedom and independence to us?
