There still doesn't seem to be a single common denominator that's triggering this growth. Some places in the Western Pacific, including Japan and South Korea, have seen activity grow for the past two months. For each of these places, there's no clear indication that this is the result of some new sub-variant. So, why the second wave with BA5? Again, much like we saw in Europe, there is no simple, straightforward explanation.
