The One Is the Good

Eudorus insisted that above the primordial generative couple, monad and diad, there should be an even higher principle. Plotinus too will posit a single one above all things, a source of goodness, order and unity for everything else. Other neoplatonists will follow him in this and agree that the fundamental principle of unity is also the Fundamental principle of goodness. In other words, the one is the good.
