Charles Webb's father died in 1939. Charles was married, but he separated from his wife in 1947 and she later filed for divorce. The police have been conducting their own investigation. In May of 2021, they exhumed the Somerton man's body as part of an effort to identify all unidentified human remains in South Australia.

In 1948, two horse jockeys were riding on a beach in Australia when they came across a man lying in the sand. There was a partially smoked cigarette resting on his jacket. He was well dressed, with a striped tie and polished shoes. And he was dead.
